____________________________________________________________________ The Internet Nirvana Fan Club Newsletter - # 11 - September 27, 1998 ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ ________________ - Introduction - ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ Welcome to the 11th Nirvana Fan Club Newsletter. As usual I will bring information about some of the updates to my site as well as some Nirvana related news. There is also some brief info on The Methodists and more. So, sit back and enjoy! ________________ - Site Updates - ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ I just added a poll, to my main page, which will change topic a couple of times a month. The first and current topic to vote for is whether or not you purchased Nirvana's "Nevermind" album just because it contains "Smells Like Teen Spirit" or if it was because of the others songs as well. After about 150 votes, the majority voted for the second answer - as in not purchasing "Nevermind" only because of SLTS. That was also the result I personally hoped for! Vote now if you haven't yet! NFC Poll [ http://www.nirvanaclub.com/index.html ] The complete, well probably complete, list of all Nirvana songs was briefly updated again with a few corrections and additions. Please do E-mail me if you have something you'd like to see added to the list. [ http://www.nirvanaclub.com/text/songs.txt ] As always I updated the Nirvana Fan Club FAQ. This time the layout was changed a little bit and most of the answers were updated with more accurate info, and small additions have also been submitted. Also a few new questions and answers to it were added. NFC FAQ [ http://www.nirvanaclub.com/nfc_faq.htm ] The biggest update since the last newsletter is the Sound Gallery which has a new design now, and in my personal opinion it looks a lot better than before. It also loads in basically no time, and more files are available than previously. With many of songs there is a small description, for example where and when it was recorded. You can find sound clips for both Nirvana, The Foo Fighters, Sweet 75 and also The Methodists. Soon I will add some Hole clips, primarily from their new album "Celebrity Skin". Also to come will be various interviews, with Nirvana or people talking about Nirvana in some form. Some recent Hole interviews will be added too. The Methodists were kind enough to send me a copy of their KCMU Radio Show recorded in June this year, and from that you can find exclusive sound clips in the Sound Gallery. Note that I can't put up full songs in the gallery, more info about that in the FAQ. The MIDIs are complete though. Soundz - [ http://www.nirvanaclub.com/sounds.htm ] An IRC channel for and by my site has been created by Jorge Rivero on the popular IRC Network, DALnet. Go there if you'd like to meet other Nirvana fans, and talk about my site or Nirvana - or whatever you like to talk about. The people who've been bugging me to add a web-based chatroom to the site can use this IRC channel now. [ #NirvanaClub on irc.dal.net ] Note that you need an IRC client installed to visit this channel, I suggest getting mIRC which is also the most popular one. [ http://www.mirc.co.uk/ ] Special thanks to Jorge for creating this channel! I have added some new, very exclusive, scans to the Picture Gallery just a few days ago. The scans are of pictures taken underneath the bridge where Kurt once slept, and the place described in the Nevermind song "Something in the way". The pictures are courtesy of Justin Williams. [ http://www.nirvanaclub.com/pics.htm ] I also briefly updated my rules for Bootleg Trading. Remember to always read those before you offer me a trade. [ http://www.nirvanaclub.com/btrading.htm ] Out of about 30.000 people viewing my sponsor banner, only 100 or so have actually clicked on it! I must say again that you support the site greatly by clicking our sponsor banner and usually they advertise for some great sites. [ http://www.nirvanaclub.com/index.html ] The Tom Grant Section of The Internet Nirvana Fan Club was briefly shown on the Danish TV program "Okay Tone", broadcasted earlier this week. The program was about Courtney Love and Hole, and about all the controversy around her. [ http://www.nirvanaclub.com/grant01.htm ] ________________ - Nirvana News - ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ Well, there was a rumour floating around the net that some people had a scan of the cover of the forthcoming Nirvana boxed-set, and the same source claimed that the title of the album would be simply "Box". Neither is true, since the production of the album has hardly started and it will not be released until around the year 2000, or 2001. If you get a scan of a Nirvana boxed set then its most likely a bootleg one. Like the one they are selling at UBL.com containing all the songs from the albums Bleach and Incesticide. Mike Seppa claimed for months that he had an incomplete video of the May 5, 1990 show from Jacksonville, Florida. Recently he stated that he did not have this video afterall but he just made up the whole story to "fight tape hoarding". I personally don't think this is a good way to do it but I guess Mike did. The 05/05/90 show is still unsurfaced, waiting to be found by some trader ... Opinion Magazine has been down for a while and no new issue has been released since June 1998. I am not sure what happened to their server, which has been down for a while, but they've had a lot of technical trouble since they got a domain for the online magazine. I don't know exactly the reason for the site being down now, lets hope it will be up again soon. [ http://www.opinionmagazine.com ] An unknown song by Nirvana was performed briefly at the 11/12/93 show and sources claim that the same song was performed at the yet unsurfaced 08/06/93 concert. So far there is not much info available about this strange song. A clip will be online soon. Very special thanks to NFC vice president Dave Labentowicz for providing this info. A new site, called The Nirvana Fan's Companion just turned up. There could be a little confusion since I often call my site NFC and this site is also called NFC in short, but that's a different story. Anyway, this new site has a 130+ page DOC file available which contains a bunch of Nirvana info from the Nirvana documents out there. For example various FAQ's, Concert guides and much more has been put together and collected in this large DOC file. It also contains my complete listing of songs, as well as the listing of TV shows and movies with Nirvana related events. Check it out ... NFC - [ http://members.tripod.com/~NFC_HOME/ ] The domain cobain.com - formerly run by Brent has apparently been taken over by Kyle Thibodeau. So far the actual site is not up yet but it will be soon I think. [ http://www.cobain.com/index.html ] ______________ - Misc Stuff - ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ Let's start this by another Hard Rock Café story that follows the ones in the past four newsletters. This one is from the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas, NV: " I was in Vegas and went to the Hard Rock Hotel, and they had a whole wall piece on Kurt Cobain/Nirvana, there was 2 guitars, 1 of Kurt's, the other must have been Chris's. There was a pair of his clothes, jeans and shirt, and red plad shirt. On the bottom were hundreds of fan written notes, I guess mourning his death. " I'm still interested in hearing from people who would be able to purchase Hard Rock Café T-shirts for me, in exchange for bootlegs or something. I'm mainly looking for T-shirts from the Hard Rock Café's in these cities: Moscow, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, New York, San Francisco. Please E-mail me [ webmaster@nirvanaclub.com ] if you can get T-shirts from the above mentioned cities. Thanks. The Methodists recently returned from their brief tour of the Washington/Oregon/California area and apparently the tour was quite successful. Manager James shared a few things - "Fans from Italy were at an LA show after hearing the CD on Italian radio. Many people from the tuesday LA show came back and brought thier friends to the thursday show. Other bands on the tour we liked were Robot at the Wiskey and The Daylights from Portland." - Hopefully the guys will consider an European tour soon and swing by Denmark :o) Courtney Love and Hole are currently giving interviews to journalists around the world, but before they begin the interview, the journalist must sign a contract in which he agrees not to mention the following issues : * Tom Grant and his murder theories. * Everything related to Drugs. * The "Kurt and Courtney" movie. * Kurt Cobain * Hank Harrison (Courtney's father) Well, that's just about wraps up NFC Newsletter #11 ! __________________ - Practical Info - ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ * Subscribing If you got a copy of this newsletter, but is not currently a subscriber then sign up for the list on my main page [ http://www.nirvanaclub.com ] * Unsubscribing If you would like to unsubscribe from the list and get your E-mail address removed, send an e-mail to me at the address - list@nirvanaclub.com - and in the subject you put "Unsub your@emailaddress".
