Introduction by Joseph "Pencil" Vilane:

Sometimes people come into our life and you know right away that they were meant to be there. They serve some sort of purpose, teach you a lesson or help you figure out who you are and who you want to become. You never know who these people may be. Sometimes your neighbor, child, long lost friend, lover, or even a complete stranger who, and you know at that very moment that they will affect your life in some profound way.

The people you meet who affect your life and the successes and downfalls you experience create who you are, and even the bad experiences can be learnt from. In fact, they are probably the poignant and important ones. I've been writing music for as long as I can remember, and as a musician we all have dry spots, there are moments where we forget why we started writing in the first place. Nirvana's music has inspired me in more ways than I can express with just words, Kurt Cobain's honest approach to writing and recording music gave me a necessary wake up call at a very important time in my life.

Even after Kurt Cobain's passing, I feel that there is still so much left to say about the music, because that's where it all began. The indelible sounds that have given people all over the world courage to express themselves, and courage to take control of their lives for all of the right reasons. With "The Pencil Pages," I'm not writing from a characters perspective, I'm writing about how the music reflects my life. Most of my editorials are very personal, but I'm happy to share them with fans like myself and hopefully all of you can get something out of it, and remind yourself why you became fans of Nirvana. So, you're not just learning something about the music, but you also have a chance to learn about me.

I'm happy that Rasmus Holman has given me the opportunity to express my thoughts on the music that has changed my life, and there's isn't a better website than The NirvanaFanClub, it's a very informative site for avid fans world wide. I'm proud of all of the effort that Rasmus has put into The NFC, I've always had a passion for journalism and I look forward to submitting future articles for your enjoyment!
