Nirvana Questions and Answers by Brian Peterson http://members.aol.com/WPeter4105/index.html 01. Where did Nirvana get their name? The band tried out many names before settling on Nirvana and ultimately the name Nirvana was chosen because of the meaning behind the word. (See Nirvana Meanings section) 02. Was Kurt really going to quit Nirvana and/or divorce Courtney Love? Both were a possibility. It is thought that Kurt would have eventually went solo and done other collaborations with other artists, but that doesn't mean that Nirvana was completely finished forever because of this. As for divorcing Courtney it was speculated that it was something the couple were possibly going to look into. Though because of Kurt's own parents divorcing and the toll it took on him personally I feel that they would have tried to stay together especially for their daughters sake if Kurt could have dealt with his own life. From: http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/artsentertainment/2001894366_cobain05.html "Love sold the Denny-Blaine house in 2000 and moved to Los Angeles. The new owners are former Microsoft employees who have put up privacy fencing and landscaping. The greenhouse Cobain died in was torn down in 1998. The park benches, where Cobain would occasionally sit, are one of the few remaining artifacts from his time." 03. What were Nirvana's songs about? Kurt often left his lyrics open for interpretation though through Nirvana's career catalog there are themes of discontent and some were based off of stories or news reports Kurt had read about as well. Lyrics about isolation and being judged by media and society in general followed. Songs that Nirvana covered of other artists sometimes dealt with death and salvation. 04. Where can I get rare Nirvana music? If you are looking for bootlegs or imports you can try your local music stores or order online at such sites such as (amazon.com). You can also try your luck at downloading off of the internet from downloading engines, torrents (easytree.org), Nirvana web pages, or trade with Nirvana bootleg traders (search google.com to find people). Your next best bet would be to register at (ebay.com) and buy rare Nirvana items that way. 05. When will there be another official Nirvana release? For The Latest Updates: http://pub44.bravenet.com/forum/3706887347 The box set was released in November 2004 and future releases will take place. There is set to be at least one more release of rarities according to reports. But this piece was written by me in Summer 2004: At present time there is no official word of when there will be another release. Most would say that if and when the next release comes out it will be done around the time that most record companies put out their biggest sellers during the fourth quarter of the calender year. That would mean it would come out sometime before Christmas of that particular year. Kurt's demo tapes are reportedly currently locked in a safety deposit box. Eric Erlandson formerly of Hole made sure to collect Kurt's tapes, notebooks, etc. and save them for Courtney when Kurt died so that they would not be stolen. Eric is no longer is possesion of the tapes as of last known. There was said to be as many as 109 cassette tapes in total. Krist, Dave & Courtney have a business partnership called the LLC that was started after Kurt died so that future Nirvana releases and issues could be dealt with. Dave, Krist and also Courtney (acting on Kurt's family's behalf) would then all have a say in any official Nirvana releases. Courtney and Kurt's family were unhappy with the cut of the money that Dave & Krist were to make and the amount of control they had over future releases and therefore she and Kurt's family wanted to disband the LLC business partnership. That was the basis of the lawsuits between "The Estate of Kurt Cobain" & Dave and Krist at that time. Courtney sued in May 2001 to dissolve the partnership, claiming it is "non-functional." The "Estate" said that Kurt was Nirvana and wrote about 93 percent of all Nirvana's songs over their whole catalog and therefore Krist & Dave should be happy to get what they have gotten over the years and would continued to be paid royalties for the songs they played on. Former drummer Chad Channing was said to have about 5 percent of that 7 percent remaining chunk of the songwriting royalties from the songs on Bleach. Krist and Dave were both credited as being co-songwriters on Smells Like Teen Spirit and a couple of other songs. Krist & Dave argued that they were the ones actually in the band and that they were also a big part making Nirvana successful. For that reason they didn't want to lose what they felt they rightfully had coming to them and the control in future releases they had. Courtney and then manager/boyfriend Jim Barber sued to stop the release of the proposed box set to release what was considered the best unreleased Nirvana song "You Know Your Right" on the Greatest Hits package. That was then released in late 2002 and has since went platinum. They felt that "You Know You're Right" would have been buried on a box set and not as profitable. Both sides came to terms on that matter soon after and that is why the "hits" package was able to be released with that song included. Unreleased material has been held up for various reasons. First of all Nirvana's record label Geffen which Nirvana was signed on their subsidiary imprint DGC Records was merged to the conglomerate Interscope. Since then the label has been sold a few times and that legally slows down the process indefinetly. Krist even once stated that he was unsure of who Nirvana's music even legally belonged to anymore. Also with Dave staying busy with his various projects including the Foo Fighters, Krist with his political aspirations and Courtney with her various run ins with the law and promoting her solo career, there have been even more holdups. The good news is that a lot of rare Nirvana material has been collected and accounted for. This material though does not include much of Kurt's private recordings. Whether much of that material is worth releasing in the first place is also in question. From wholenote.com: "Grohl admitted that he hasn't been too hands-on with the project, with the majority of work being done by former Nirvana bassist, Krist Novoselic, and Seattle rock journalist Gillian G. Gaar. He felt fine leaving it in Novoselic's hands, since the bassist had also done the majority of the grunt work on 1996's From the Muddy Banks of the Wishkah, the second posthumous Nirvana album, which compiles sixteen live tracks that span the band's career. Critics insisted that Wishkah wasn't the great lost Nirvana album since there were no unheard gems to add to the catalog, leaving the door open for the box set." Gillian Gaar was able to compile a lengthy list of what was available outside of Kurt's private recordings. Her work appeared in the February 14, 1997 issue of Goldmine magazine. For that article go here: http://www.nirvanaclub.com/get.php?section=articles&file=02.14.97.html Krist then enlisted Gillian to help him collect the recordings after finding out what an extensive list she had info about. At one point it was rumored such a box set would include 45 songs. Whether it is released all at once, broken down to be released a little at a time, or released at all there is no official word at this point. There were rumors at one point that such a release if ever finalized would be called "The Heart Shaped Box" set. As of 2004 Krist was quoted as saying, "There should be more stuff. There’s been talk of a DVD because, thing is, there’s not a lot of money in compact discs. It’s hard to bootleg a DVD." So what is there to release? There are the b-sides and split singles songs, songs released on compilations, live recordings of songs never recorded in the studio, alternate versions of already known songs, rare and possibly unheard studio recordings, etc. Such a set is almost surely not going to include Kurt's 1982 Organized Confusion demo or the Fecal Matter demo. Although Dave Grohl was once quoted as saying that many of the unreleased songs were songs written and recorded before he was even in the band. Krist can't just release anything he wants either. He'd have to get approval of Courtney, Dave, Universal, etc. If he was to leak it on the internet if caught he'd be fined if not possibly facing jailtime depending on what he released. At this point it seems he's moved on quite a bit in his life just like anyone would and have to after this many years. The minute Nirvana signed it's first contract it became not only a band but also a business. Because of that a lot of legal issues, middlemen, schedules, agendas, etc. have to be worked around. An inactive band is not exactly the top priority for a large record company either. Although any new Nirvana release is sure to sell it is nowhere near the number of units that could have once been sold if released around the time of Kurt's death. 06. Didn't Charles Cross sell the rights to his book Heavier Then Heaven and isn't there going to be a movie coming out on the WB? Charles Cross author of Heavier than Heaven never sold anyone his rights to his book like it was reported. He even confirmed that he had not sold any rights and had no plans to sell rights to his book on Seattle radio station 107.7 The End and that any stories saying otherwise were completely false. The story was reported right around the 10th anniversary of Kurt's death. Although there is currently a movie directed by Gus Van Sant that is coming out in 2005 called "Last Days" that will closely resemble the life of Kurt Cobain. For more info on that: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0403217/fullcredits The plot of the movie states: "Michael Pitt stars in a Seattle-set rock & roll drama as a musician whose life and career is reminiscent of Kurt Cobain's" Once again, this will not be an exact replica of Kurt's life from what has been said. Exact names will not be used because they would otherwise never get permission to make the movie. 07. What was Kurt's "Hi, How Are You?" T-Shirt all about? What about his other shirts? The maker of the logo is musician Daniel Johnston. From www.hihowareyou.com: "Daniel Johnston has spent the last 20 or so years exposing his heartrending tales of unrequited love, cosmic mishaps, and existential torment to an ever-growing international cult audience. Initiates, including a healthy number of discerning musicians and critics, have hailed him as an American original in the style of bluesman Robert Johnson and country legend Hank Williams. A number of artists -- among them the Dead Milkmen, Yo La Tengo, the Velvet Underground's songs. And he as collaborated with the likes of Jad Fair (a founding member of Half Japanese, who've also done Daniel's songs), the Butthole Surfers, Bongwater/Shimmydisc guru Kramer, and members of Sonic Youth. Daniel gained his widest public exposure to date when, at the 1992 MTV Music Awards, Nirvana leader Kurt Cobain (who constantly touted Daniel in interviews) wore a Johnston T-shirt" Kurt's Flipper shirt, Corporate Rock Magazines Still Sucks shirt, among others Kurt made himself. Kurt's famous red and black striped sweater was acquired from a Nirvana fan by Courtney Love. Kurt sometimes wore women's clothing to piss off homophobic people by doing things that he knew would bother them. 08. Didn't Dave Grohl write Marigold? Yes he did. There are two studio recorded versions of this song. One is found on Dave Grohl's "Pocketwatch" demo, on which Dave plays every instrument. The other is a "Nirvana" song written by Dave that appears on the "Heart-Shaped Box" single as a B-side and on the Nirvana box set. 09. Why is the word "Chaka" written on Dave's drum set in the Smells Like Teen Spirit video? Dave wrote "Chaka" on his drums as a tribute to a grafitti artist who used to tag the word around Los Angeles, CA. 10. What is Kurt's "Vandalism: Beautiful As A Rock In A Cop's Face" sticker from? Vandalism: Beautiful as a Rock in a Cop's Face is from an album by the band Feederz. They are a punk band who have been around for many years and have released three albums to date. 11. What does "Fuhgawz" mean? Kurt wrote it on his shoe in reference to the band Fugazi. It is said that Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam once misspelled the band's name and Kurt purposely did the same as a joke. 12. Is there a full length boombox version of the song "Old Age" circulating? No. The clip circlating was leaked from a website called The Stranger in 1998. They refused to release more than the amount they did even after many people contacted them to do so. They have since shut down unfortunetely. Courtney Love did use it for a Hole song and that can be found on the My Body The Hand Grenade import. All lyrics are subject for interpretation. Hole's version has completely different lyrics from Nirvana's version as well. An incomplete studio version of Old Age appeared on the box set. 13. Wasn't there was once a rumor of Puff Daddy covering Teen Spirit? That was all a joke written during an MTV article in 2000 making fun of musicians ripping off old songs to make new hits. There was talk that a movie soundtrack was to be released of all Nirvana covers but nothing ever finalized. 14. Wasn't Geffen so unhappy with In Utero that they were originally not going to release it? From insiderone.net: "The album was recorded and mixed fast, in 12 days. The band apparently loved the album at first. But then-Geffen Records A&R man Gary Gersh hated it, according to Albini, who says Cobain called him a few weeks after the sessions to say that Gersh told him "It sounds like crap." Albini distances himself from the version of In Utero that was released. He was unhappy that there were any changes. Two songs, "Heart-Shaped Box" and "All Apologies," were remixed by Scott Litt, and Albini found the mastering "overbearing." "I'm really proud of the job that I did on the record with the reservation that the band and I are probably the only people who have genuinely heard the work I did!" he says." 15. What do you all think Nirvana's biggest impact and lasting effect on pop culture is? Was it the bringing of "alternative" or "grunge" to the mainstream? Or was it something else? I was thinking about it and the music probably did make the biggest impact, but Nirvana also made an impact on the fashion and Kurt's death kind of sealed it that it would go down as a movement that Nirvana forefronted into the mainstream. Most true eras of music run in about 5 year spans. Although this one got cut short to a large extent it was a movement that was somewhat critical of itself (and of imitators) and therefore should have ended before many others. Pop culture gets bored pretty easily and as new generations grow up and the music market gets oversaturated with too many similar sounding bands trends are destined to change. Nirvana also made an impact by playing benefit shows during their career and inspiring a lot of kids to play guitar. I was also thinking that Nirvana had an impact on starting a whole new line of guitar (jag-stang), kids wanting to grow their hair long again, and they made Dave Grohl a household name which really benefited his post-Nirvana career with the Foo Fighters. The dynamic from switching between soft and loud during the songs became the norm. Music usually breaks into hybrids of oneself. For example, you could say punk music in evolved/de-evolved forms had a lot to do with new wave, grunge, and many other styles later becoming popular. Grunge has started to create it's own offshoots and will probably continue to do so. 16. Didn't Nirvana play Rape Me at the 1992 MTV Music Awards? Yes and No. From imdb.com: [Nirvana] played a trick on the MTV brass when [Kurt] began Nirvana's appearence at the 1992 MTV Video Music Awards by singing "Waif me," a take-off on the song "Rape Me." He then quickly switched to playing "Lithium," the song the band had agreed to play in the show as a compromise with MTV executives. Cobain had wanted to sing the then-new song "Rape Me", while MTV's bigwigs wanted the band to lead off the show with their signature song, "Smells Like Teen Spirit." The two sides settled on a mid-show rendition of "Lithium." 17. How many different artists under the name Nirvana have their been? There have been a couple, but two are of mention. Reportedly the group Wilson Phillips also almost called themselves Nirvana at one point as well. From digitalnirvana.net: "Two other bands have been called Nirvana. The first had a minor hit in the late 60s titled "Chasing Rainbows." They released several albums, one titled "The Story of Simon Simeopath." The other is a Christian-Rock band from the early 80s. They attempted to sue our Nirvana for stealing their name. In early '92, the Christian Nirvana played a show in California and it was attended by many angry fans expecting our Nirvana to play. Nirvana had to settle the lawsuits, paying out $200,000 to the 60's band, and $100,000 to the Christian band." 18. What has Dave Grohl been up to lately? Dave has been spotted with Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins at a concert of the band The Darkness, been in the studio with the band Ash and reportedly also will be making an appearance on the upcoming Nine Inch Nails album. Besides those sightings & spending time with his wife there has been work on the next Foo Fighters album. Dave Grohl was quoted as saying this about the new material: From nme.com: "Taylor and I live about five miles away from each other, Taylor’s got a studio in his basement, I’ve got a studio at the house in Virginia and I’m building a studio in my house in LA." Taylor Hawkins added: "We both have little studios set up. We’re coming up with all these riffs now. We have six riff-things floating around and I think one or two of them will make it into a bridge, or part of a record. We need to do 30 or 40 things before we decide on those ten. "We always think we’re gonna make a ‘White Album’, a 20-song thing. But at the minute it’s good to listen to the riffs and see what we’re going to sound like on the next record." It is reported that the new album may be a double album as Dave has about 20 songs written. 19. What has Krist Novoselic been up to lately? In 2003 Krist said he was quitting the music business. Though he has written solo songs that may or may not eventually see the light of day. Novoselic says he is devoting his energies to boosting voter turnout among young people and continuing to encourage election reform through Music for America, an activist group he's worked closely with since sidelining his rock career. From ebloggy.com: "After Cobain's suicide in 1994 abuptly disbanded Nirvana (a band that was, according to Novoselic, "always political") and his own follow-up projects Sweet 75 [and Eyes Adrift] failed to click with audiences, the lanky bass player became a full-fledged political junkie, founding a political action committee called JAMPAC (Joint Artists and Music Promotions Action Committee) to lobby against a music-censorship bill, pushing Democratic candidates and causes and hosting a program on a local public radio station near his home outside Tacoma. He has also written numerous editorials and launched a political Website called Fix Our United States. In November 2003, Novoselic indicated he was considering making a bid for the lieutenant governor seat currently occupied by incumbent Democrat Brad Owen, who's looking for his third four-year term this year. But, says Novoselic, "I found out firsthand that it's really considered bad form to run against an incumbent of your own party." Krist published, "Of Grunge and Government: Let's Fix This Broken Democracy!" in 2004. To read an excerpt from the book go here: http://www.akashicbooks.com/ofgrungeexcerpt.htm Krist was/is good at what he does and he was a big part of keeping Nirvana together for as long as they were. He was the glue of the band, especially in tense time periods. His jokes and comments kept many shows from becoming worse then they could have been. He stood up for Kurt whether it was in an exchange with a bouncer in Dallas or in interviews where the reporters were looking for dirt on the band. His role has been overlooked and he deserves a lot of credit. 20. What has Pat Smear been up to lately? After Nirvana ended Pat joined Dave Grohl's band the "Foo Fighters" and appeared on the Foo album, "The Color and the Shape." Pat left the Foo Fighters in 1997. He has since worked on getting a movie made about his former band: The Germs, was a regular on MTV's House of Style (even during his time with the Foos), and more recently been helping out friend and former That Dog singer Anna Waronker on her solo albums. 21. What has Chad Channing been up to lately? Chad was apart of a band called The Methodists from 1995 to 1998. They self produced and released their album "Cookie" on Mock Records in 1998. The album was mastered by Jack Endino who also produced Nirvana's debut album Bleach, (featuring Chad on drums). Chad played drums, and did some vocals and guitar on the "Cookie" album - which also included the members John Hurd, Dan McDonald and Erik Spicer. The band later broke up following the departure of bassist Dan McDonald. The remaining members (Chad, Erik and John) formed Television Intravenously (TVIV) and recorded a 3-song demo in 1999. Since 2001 Chad has been in a band called East of the Equator. They released their debut album in 2004, also produced by Jack Endino. Official site: www.eastoftheequator.net 22. Do you think Nirvana will ever do a re-union show and would Pat Smear be included? No, probably not. Some bands have done shows without the lead singer present after their death such as Lynard Skynard and Sublime. But for arguments sake if they did a show and Pat or another guitarist was not used it would just be drums and bass and possibly back-up vocals. I don't think that would be very memorable. And I don't think they would want to tarnish the name of Nirvana in any way by doing such a show, We'll see what they do when Nirvana gets inducted into the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame. They'll probably have other musicians join them onstage if they perform. Nirvana is not eligible to be inducted until the year 2014. 23. Whatever happened to the nirvana.com website that was talked about? The LLC (Nirvana's business partnership between the estate of Kurt Cobain, Dave & Krist) own it. When all of the court cases were going on with the Nirvana LLC Courtney got the rights for the LLC to nirvana.com, hole.com, holemusic.com, courtneylove.com and kurtcobain.com. The domain name nirvana.com was registered to Allen Draher (Courtney Love's attorney) in 1999 and is payed for every year to prevent any abuse. Courtney was going to get her (kittyradio.com) webmaster Brooke with help from volunteers to make the site. Brooke apparently never got the funding and the go ahead to start the project and so as of this point nothing has come of it. I (Brian Peterson) have been in talks with Brooke to be a main contributor of the site if and when it starts up. Nirvanabox.com is currently the official site. 24. What was Evan Dando's relationship with Kurt? Evan Dando was the lead singer for the band The Lemonheads. He now is a solo artist. Kurt hung out with Evan Dando a few times. Courtney was close to him after Kurt's death. He was mentioned more in interviews related to Kurt because of his hair being long and blonde and his relationship with them. He also was photographed with Courtney and the teddy bear that at that time held some of Kurt's ashes by a tabloid in 1994. Apparently he's cleaned up and isn't doing drugs anymore as well. http://www.nowtoronto.com/issues/2003-06-12/music_feature.php "His voice gets quiet when he reminisces about Kurt Cobain. Although he says the two were pals, details of their interactions are sketchy. In fact, Courtney Love had a much-publicized crush on Dando, and the two were shot in a tangle of sheets for a magazine fashion layout. After Cobain's initial overdose in Italy back in the winter of 1994, he flashed a photo of Dando's face at the rabid photographers who showed up at the hospital. The paparazzi were puzzled. "I'll tell you the story behind that," stammers Dando. "He was just trying to block the photographers from the window, and he had a poster with me on one side and a picture of Björk on the other side, so he made the decision to either look at me or look at Björk. So it ended up looking like he was putting a picture of me up, but you gotta remember the other side of the poster. "I was in Australia when I heard about it. That's when I shaved my head, 'cause I was so bummed. We thought he was gonna die and stuff. Can't even really listen to Nirvana still any more. I was really too close to all that. It was such a sad moment." 25. Who is Caitlin Moore? She is the drug dealer that Kurt reportedly hung out with during his last days. And for anyone wondering, any pictures that say they are of Kurt after he passed away where you can see a lot of blood on the face of the body are NOT real. Many fakes circulated after Kurt's death. The Seattle Police department never even developed their greenhouse pictures of Kurt. 26. What were some of the Nirvana concerts that the crowds were most into? Any of the shows with the largest crowds were often the loudest. Some that stand out include Lithium during the 1992 Reading Festival, 2/14/94 in Paris during Rape Me, 06/21/92 during Polly in Dublin, parts of the show 10/30/92 in Buenos Aires, 09/26/91 New Haven and the two Nirvana shows in Brazil in January 1993 all had large crowds and/or good crowd participation. 27. Why was no music video made for "Rape Me"? Rape Me was radio friendly, but not MTV friendly. Nirvana just elected to use their performance of All Apologies from Unplugged as the 2nd video instead. Why you ask? Because music videos are often (at least partially) paid for by the bands themselves. So why not use something already filmed that MTV would approve of (since MTV filmed it themselves). 28. I've heard about a unrecorded song from Kurt's Journals called "Travelin' White Trash Couple" from NME. Can you tell me more about it? Apparently that song is an early name for the Bleach track "Swap Meet." NME had incorrectly labeled it as a "new unrecorded song" which was later retracted. 29. I have an old copy of Nevermind which doesn't include the hidden track, "Endless, Nameless", do you know how many of the albums were pressed without it? The first 50,000 copies were pressed without it. Then at some point after Kurt's death many more were again pressed without Endless Nameless. My guess as to how many don't have Endless Nameless is quite a lot of them. It isn't that much more rare then the ones that have Endless Nameless on them. However, if you're looking to get that song you can find that particular version on the In Bloom single and an alternate version on the box set. 30. What do you think Kurt would have thought of Dave, Krist & Pat's post-Nirvana projects? There is no way to tell for sure, but I think he would have been proud of them doing what they wanted to do and I think he'd have wished them all the best. 31. What are the best Nirvana movies, CD's, books, etc. to buy? That is completely up to how much you are willing to spend. Live Tonight Sold Out! is the most in-depth official movie/video release out there about Nirvana. Most general fans will tell you that Nevermind was Nirvana's best album. Although many long time fans often favor In Utero instead. "Come As You Are" is the only book approved by Kurt before he passed away, but there have been other good reads including "Heavier Than Heaven" that are much more recent. Read customer reviews of products online at sites such as amazon.com or epinions.com if you'd like more info on what is worth your money. Why were Nirvana not in the movie Singles? Nirvana declined being in the movie and on the soundtrack although they were approached about the idea. Soundgarden, Alice In Chains and members of Pearl Jam appear in the movie. 33. What songs did Krist sing on? Krist jokingly sings on the Kiss cover of Do You Love Me, a rare Cher cover of Gypsies Tramps and Thieves, and the "Come on people now..." part of Territorial Pissings as well. The "come on people now" line comes from the song "Get Together" by 1960's band The Youngbloods. Krist also sang on various live concert covers/jams and on various songs with one of his post-Nirvana bands Eyes Adrift. 34. What are all of the official Nirvana albums? There are: 7 Studio/Live Offical Releases and the 3 Disk - 1 DVD boxset Plus the VHS Home Video: Live Tonight Sold Out! Here's the list and the year they were released: Bleach (1989), Nevermind (1991), Incesticide (1992), In Utero (1993), Unplugged (1994), From The Muddy Banks of the Wishkah (1996), Nirvana (2002), With The Lights Out (2004) 35. What are all of Nirvana's official videos? Actual Filmed Videos In Chronologial Order: In Bloom (Sub Pop version), Smells Like Teen Spirit, Come As You Are, Lithium, In Bloom (DGC - there are 3 different cuts of this video), Heart-Shaped Box, You Know You're Right Videos from Nirvana's Unplugged, songs from Nirvana's 01/10/92 MTV performance, Lithium from the 1992 MTV Video Music Awards, Nirvana on Saturday Night Live, Aneurysm from Live Tonight Sold Out! among others have also been played to promote Nirvana 36. What is the history of this site? This site has been around in various incarnations since the mid 90's under the name Territorial Pissings before I came up with the name Nirvana Information Archive. This has been the official name of this site since 1998. Older versions had more multimedia, but much of that was found elsewhere so I concentrated on more original info. The site was then primarily a download site of rare documents collected from across the internet. I was the author of the "Unofficial Nirvana FAQ", a regular of the alt.music.nirvana newsgroup and a member of the Heart Shaped Mail Box as well when the site was in it's heyday in the late 90's. This site got major content upgrades in 2004 and is now filled with far more information then has ever been here at any point in this site's history. This webpage is purposely as straight forward as you can get with no frills and information that I have done many hours of research to compile. I'm looking to find other bands to listen to, can you help me? Some of my favorite bands include: Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, Green Day, U2, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Smashing Pumpkins, Rage Against The Machine, Radiohead, Metallica, Weezer, Bad Religion, Audioslave, Foo Fighters, Collective Soul, Candlebox, Queens of the Stone Age, Velvet Revolver, etc. Bands who have been overlooked for the most part: Second Coming, PaloAlto, Local H, Toadies, Stabbing Westward, Finger Eleven, Seven Channels, Econoline Crush, Toad The Wet Sproket, Tonic, No Use For A Name, Dishwalla, Soul Asylum, Cave-In, Fenix TX, Gin Blossoms, Smithereens, Ours, etc. Bands with female artists: Garbage, No Doubt, Evanescence, Veruca Salt, Elastica, Shonen Knife, Hole, Cranberries, Helium, Drain STH, The Donnas, L7, etc. 39. Did you ever see Nirvana in concert or have you ever talked to any former members? I never got the chance to see Nirvana, although I have seen the Foo Fighters twice. The second time I saw the Foo Fighters Dave Grohl came into the crowd and was literally a few feet away from me. I didn't have the chance to say anything though. Also back in 1998 when Bleach drummer Chad Channing was with his then band The Methodists I was able to get an advanced copy of their CD through the internet with his and the other band members signatures. I also sent The Methodists an email to their then official email address in which Chad responded to. I asked him if he could name one of the most memorable moments or shows with Nirvana. He mentioned their 10/03/89 Blind Pig, Ann Arbor, MI show with The Flaming Lips in which the Flaming Lips apparently had a fog machine that left smoke on the stage. Apparently there were also a lot of technical problems with the sound so that made it stand out as well I'm sure. 40. I can't find the answer to my question(s). Will you help me? Sure, if your requests are within reason. Also if you have any suggestions on how to make my site better or think there are mistakes in any of my documents email me at WPeter4105@aol.com.
