NFC News Channing, Endino Talk Up Bleach Reissue
I made it rock, Jack Endino says of his original production work on Bleach, Nirvana's classic 1989 debut album, which Sub Pop Records will reissue on Nov. 3rd in celebration of its 20th anniversary. For the deluxe rerelease, Endino convinced Sub Pop to hire George Marino -- the guy who did the Led Zeppelin remasters" -- to handle digital remastering duties, with himself and bassist Krist Novoselic overseeing the process. He didnt squash it, Endino says of the results.

Chad Channing, who was still Nirvana's drummer when Bleach was recorded and pounded the skins on ten of the disc's 13 tracks, still raves about Endino's approach. I always liked working with Jack, he says. He is open and receptive to ideas, but at the same time he is very keen and wont let you get away with anything. Hell say, I think you can do better. Its fun and good to be pushed that way.

As previously reported, the seminal Bleach will be reissued in two formats -- an expanded CD with a 48-page booklet and a double LP collection with a 16-page booklet -- and both will feature a previously unreleased live album called Live at Pine Street Theatre, recorded at the Portland, Oregon venue of the same name on February 9th, 1990.
