|NFC News Patti Smith performs her SLTS cover live|
On August 6 Patti Smith played at the State Theatre in Minneapolis. Her set included the version of Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit which appears on her 'Twelve' album. She was backed by her band and Dave Pirner of Soul Asylum, among others, although the banjo part (it's a bluegrass version) was played by a local artist and not Sam Shepard, as on the record.
In a recent interview on 89.3 (The Current) she discussed her connection with Kurt and the band, and a longer article in the Minneapolis Star Tribune includes more detail on her personal relationship with the song. You can find the article here.
Thanks to Janet!
