|NFC News Courtney Love sells Nirvana|
This should come as salt in the wounds of Nirvana's Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and Chad Channing, who fought with Love for years over control of the songs and over royalties. Love is now slimmed down and supposedly clean, but not earning much money. Reps didn't return calls." Courtesy of the New York Post.
The story can't be verified and, indeed, it's only gossip at this point so one can only hope that it's not completely accurate. However, it's interesting to note that earlier this month, the Sunday Mirror (a British tabloid) reported that Courtney Love was selling a quarter of the Nirvana song catalogue to lifestyle icon Martha Stewart. Supposedly, the deal would land her some £70 million (approx. $121 million US dollars). No source was provided for the story and it was not repeated by any respectable mainstream publication. Thus, it is believed to be fiction at this point and it's possible that the NY Post story above is derived from this one. You may read it here.
Martha Stewart was sentenced to prison in 2004 for conspiracy, obstruction of justice and two counts of making false statements. She was released from prison in 2005.
