NFC News More info on Cobain Jaguar guitar + enter competition to win one!
Fender has released more information about their forthcoming Kurt Cobain Jaguar guitar.

From the press release:

Fender is very proud to introduce one of the most distinctive signature models in its history, the Kurt Cobain Jaguar guitar.

The guitar is meticulously modelled on the battered 1965 Jaguar that the Nirvana singer, guitarist and songwriter wielded during the heady and meteoric early-'90s era when the band burst out of the Pacific Northwest, ruled rock and led a musically stunning and culturally subversive movement.

Fender craftsmen have reproduced Cobain's battle-hardened left-handed Jaguar down to the last unusual detail, including its worn finish, dual humbucking pickups and unique electronics and controls (which were already in place when Kurt acquired the guitar in summer 1991).

Unique features include an alder body with Road Worn aged finish and hardware treatment, bound fretboard with pearloid dot markers, Stratocaster headstock shape with 1950s-style 'spaghetti' logo under the finish, DiMarzio humbucking DP103 PAF 36th Anniversary neck pickup and DP100 Super Distortion bridge pickup, triple knurled 'chrome-dome' knob configuration (volume-volume-tone), three-position toggle switch, black chrome Adjusto-Matic bridge and Gotoh sealed tuners. The guitar will be available in right- and left-handed versions.

Accessories include a black textured vinyl hard-shell case and an exclusive Fender Kurt Cobain book featuring extensive photos and commentary by Charles Peterson and an insightful interview with Nirvana guitar tech Earnie Bailey.

Both the right and left handed version have a MSRP of £1300.00

Fender has also launched a competition where you can win the guitar as well as the limited edition 4-LP picture disc Nevermind 20th anniversary album. Click here for details on the competition. Only people in the UK are eligble to enter.

Also see this story from Total Guitar for more images and details on the guitar. Issue 220 of Total Guitar to be published on October 3 in the UK will feature the exclusive full story behind the guitar, including the first pictures and interviews with those involved in its development. Thanks to Music Radar for info.

NFC News Get #Nevermind20GoogleDoodle trending on Twitter!
A movement is forming on Twitter to get the Nirvana Nevermind 20th anniversary commemorated with a 'Google doodle'. These alterations on the famous Google logo can be seen marking major events, birthdays, anniversaries and other world happenings such as the Olympics and the US Independence Day.

Most recently, the 65th birthday of Freddie Mercury of Queen was celebrated with a Google Doodle.

See other past logos and get more info on the doodles.

It would be interesting to see Google mark the anniversary of Nirvana's landmark album on September 24, and get awareness of the music to reach a whole new audience.

To help, please use #Nevermind20GoogleDoodle as a hashtag in your tweets if you are on Twitter, or email Google about the suggestion.

Thanks to Sarah for the idea! Follow the www.nirvanaclub.com webmaster on Twitter.
