NFC News Hit So Hard - new documentary with previously unseen Cobain footage to screen at Outfest
This year's Outfest - a gay & lesbian film festival in Los Angeles - will feature a screening of Patty Schemel's new documentary Hit So Hard.

Schemel, the former drummer of Courtney Love's band Hole, documented her life as a rock star - at band practice, on the road, backstage and in front of millions of people. She captured rare, precious moments behind the scenes with Hole and Kurt Cobain and the intense highs and lows of these dynamic relationships often shaped by drug abuse and an addiction that consumed her and almost killed her.

NFC News Drum used by Dave Grohl up for auction
An interesting auction from Christie's:

A remnant of the TAMA bass drum from Nirvana's Dave Grohl's first drum-kit, as smashed on stage by Kurt Cobain at the end of a concert at the Cabaret Metro, Chicago, 12th Oct. 1991, and subsequently thrown out into the crowd; a handwritten set-list from the gig, black marker pen in an unknown hand on a paper plate; a Photostat flyer for the gig and a promotional flat for the album Nevermind as displayed at the venue; accompanied by a letter from the vendor concerning provenance and photographs of Grohl playing the kit

The auction is estimated to fetch between 3,000 and 5,000 British pounds.

NFC News Nirvana in Top 10 of Greatest Songs Of All Time
In a '500 Greatest Songs Of All Time' list by Rolling Stone, Nirvana makes it to the #9 spot with Smells Like Teen Spirit:

"Teen Spirit" wiped the lingering jive of the Eighties off the pop map overnight. "The song was a call to consciousness," Novoselic said in 2000 — Cobain's avenging grenade against the corporate invasion of youth culture, spiked with the demanding venom of the sneering chorus: "Here we are now/Entertain us." The phrase was something Cobain used to say at parties — "to break the ice," he said. "That could have been him watching TV," said Novoselic, "aghast at popular culture."
