NFC News Love Buzz 20th anniversary
From The Guardian: Twenty years ago this weekend, Nirvana released Love Buzz, the first single by the band who would ignite grunge from an interesting local scene to a global phenomenon.
And this is significant why? Because grunge wasn't just another musical or youth trend - it was the ultimate expression and fusion of most of the defining cultural, ideological and social threads of the modern western world. Feminism, liberalism, irony, apathy, cynicism/idealism (those opposite sides of one frustrated coin), anti-authoritarianism, wry post-modernism, and not least a love of dirty, abrasive music; grunge reconciled all these into a seminal whole.

NFC News Universal Music to release NIRVANA Reading Festival 1992 DVD
The video recording which runs for over 90 minutes features one of Nirvana's finest live performances, with a setlist that includes many of the best tracks from their catalogue at the time. There's also an early performance (with alt. lyrics) of the song that would eventually become tourette's, as well as funny covers and jams.
In early 2005, a time-coded PRO-shot video of the show started circulating in the Nirvana collector's circles. This recording has since been released unofficially on DVD and can be found in some stores.
At this time, there's no further details on the official Universal DVD release of the Reading 1992 show (such as technical specs, extras, etc). A 2009 release is most likely.

NFC News The last word on Cobain
With Love's blessing, Cross sifted through the debris of Cobain's life, a rich seam of journals, art projects, snapshots and strange knick-knacks.
"It felt chilling," says Cross. "You'd go through his artwork and some of it would have pieces of him on it. He would glue his fingernails to the edges of dolls, there'd be blood in phials."
The most striking items provide the spine of Cobain Unseen and they're knitted together with new archive photos. The cover image, of a pensive Cobain pushing his hand toward the camera, was sourced from undeveloped film, shot by Cobain and Love as their stardom peaked.
Cross suggests there's not much chance of any new Nirvana songs to emerge.
"Those things may be the final word," says Cross. "Until then you couldn't get more into his mind unless you walked into his Olympia apartment in 1990, where you'd basically see the exact same things that are in this book."
Cobain Unseen comes out October 27 and can be ordered here.
