NFC News NFC giveaway: win a copy of brand new Nirvana book
Nick Soulsby's book new book, I Found My Friends: The Oral History of Nirvana, is now out on St. Martin's Press.
"I Found My Friends recreates the short and tempestuous times of Nirvana through the musicians and producers who played and interacted with the band. The guides for this trip didn't just watch the life of this legendary band-they lived it.
Nick Soulsby interviewed over 150 musicians from bands that played and toured with Nirvana, including well-known alternative bands like Dinosaur Jr. and The Dead Kennedys, as well as scores of smaller, but no less fascinating bands.
In this groundbreaking look at a legendary band, readers will see a more personal history of Nirvana than ever before, including Nirvana's consideration of nearly a dozen previously unmentioned candidates for drummer before settling on David Grohl, a recounting of Nirvana's famously disastrous South American shows from never-before-heard sources on Brazilian and Argentine sides, and the man who hosted the first ever Nirvana gig talks of jamming with the band at that inaugural event."
Now you can win a free copy of the book! Simply enter your name in the form below for your chance to win one of three copies that we are giving away together with the publisher, St. Martin's Press. The winners will be found on Monday, April 6.
Note: please only enter the competition if you reside in the United States.
The contest is now over.

NFC News New Kurt Cobain documentary coming in 2015
A new documentary about Kurt Cobain is set for release in 2015.
The Brett Morgen film is called Montage Of Heck and will premiere next year on the HBO channel in the US. Pitchfork reports that it is the first "fully authorised" film about the Nirvana frontman. His daughter Frances Bean Cobain is acting as executive producer on the project.
Speaking about the film, filmmaker Morgen explained that the film has been eight years in the works. "I started work on this project eight years ago," he said in a press release. "Like most people, when I started, I figured there would be limited amounts of fresh material to unearth. However, once I stepped into Kurt's archive, I discovered over 200 hours of unreleased music and audio, a vast array of art projects (oil paintings, sculptures), countless hours of never-before-seen home movies, and over 4000 pages of writings that together help paint an intimate portrait of an artist who rarely revealed himself to the media."
The film is named after one of Cobian's mixtapes, which was circulated widely online earlier this month. Cobain's former partner Tracy Marander spoke to The Guardian about the tape recently. "He made it using records, some TV, and random sounds he recorded. It was all made in Aberdeen [Washington], I believe. It took him quite a while."

NFC News No Seattle - Forgotten sounds of the Northwest Grunge Era
This compilation features some of the many divergent bands who emerged out of the North-west during this era. Intensely researched and documented this album features many bands who have now disappeared from history after releasing maybe just a couple of singles, or an album, or even never making it onto vinyl – alongside some bands that continue to this day.
All Roads lead to Nirvana: 17 of the bands featured here played alongside Nirvana in the period 1987-93. All 23 bands featured feature members who shared a stage with Nirvana. Jack Endino (The Ones) produced 37 Nirvana songs. Dave Foster (Helltrout) was Nirvana's 3rd drummer. Bundle of Hiss became TAD who played more gigs with Nirvana than any other band.
