NFC News Krist: How I met Dave
In his blog, Krist Novoselic writes about how he met Dave Grohl:

"I remember going to the airport and picking this dude up. He was easygoing--just like some guy named Paul McCartney told the Times. He brought up his drum set--a yellow TAMA with a 26" kick. The man understood John Bonham (Led Zeppelin) and Dale Crover (the Melvins), and this kick proved it. We wasted no time and rehearsed the next day. I knew Dave was coming, so beforehand I'd found a rehearsal place in Tacoma's north end."

Read the full article here which also gives props to Chad Channing and mentions how Nirvana worked with Grohl in the beginning.

NFC News Kurt mention in Chuck Klosterman’s Eating the Dinosaur
From NFC news contributor Janet: The second chapter of Chuck Klosterman’s Eating the Dinosaur (Scribner, 2009) is about Kurt and his music, especially In Utero and Incesticide, which Klosterman labels “Guilt Rock.”

His essay “Oh, the Guilt” interweaves a narrative of David Koresh and the 1999 siege at Waco with Cobain’s career in order to provide an answer to “How good was Nirvana?” by saying that the Band, although not in the same category as the Beatles, Stones, Hendrix, and Dylan, should be numbered among the “greatest bands of all time” because they established a “new kind of band,” the first rock group of the media age to be “(a) regularly defined as the biggest band in the free world, while (b) using their espoused hatred of that designation as the principal means for their on-going success.”

The book discusses many other musicians, producers and bands as well, including Radiohead, Weezer, ABBA, and Garth Brooks, but Nirvana is the most detailed.
