NFC News "Crisco" footage on YouTube
I came across a video on YouTube that I would like to share with everyone here, since this is something not many people have seen. In the Come As You Are book by Michael Azerrad, it talks about Krist Novoselic and the gang playing Twister with Crisco. Someone has found footage of this, broadcast on MTV no less, and posted it online. It is truly interesting to watch Nirvana and The Smashing Pumpkins play Crisco Twister! WARNING: Krist is in his undies and does something which is not for everybody's eyes in this video. Thankfully, it's blurred. Click here to be morally offended. ;)

NFC News Courtney Love speaks again about Guitar Hero lawsuit
Once again, Courtney Love spoke about the Guitar Hero lawsuit. From Kotaku: "What pisses me off the most about it is I think Kurt would be fine with having five Kurt Cobains singing the (Spice Girls) song Wannabe, like, 'Tell me what you want, what you really really want.' ... I think he'd find that really funny." You can read more of what was said by going to the jump.

NFC News Smart Studios to close...
Smart Studios, where Nevermind songs were first recorded, as well as Smashing Pumpkins' Gish, is set to close this coming spring. Not much detailed info is known as of yet (or whether there would be a way to save it from being closed), but you can read on for any info. Special thanks to the Smashing Pumpkins fansite, Siva for the information on this news piece. Update: There is a story here with a bit more info, courtesy of the Isthmus. Thanks to James for the link.

NFC News Soundgarden reunites! |
One of the many, many great bands of the early 1990's reunites...unfortunately, after Krist Novoselic had posted on his blog that they wouldn't be! Check out the new Soundgarden web site here!As most of you may be aware, Soundgarden was one of few bands in the Seattle area that Nirvana enjoyed as a whole group. Perhaps this may lead to something Nirvana-related down the road? (Nudge, nudge!) |

NFC News Happy new year and news tidbits |
Just a few things that have happened recently that weren't "quite" fit to post as entire news items:Kurt Cobain's fingerprints were recently up for auction. Rolling Stone has the photo on their website. Frances Cobain is also currently not residing with Courtney Love anymore. She is in a temporary guardianship with Wendy Cobain (Kurt's mother) and Kim Cobain (Kurt's sister). There is also murmurs of domestic violence being involved in some way. What this means for the Cobain estate remains to be seen, but no one should jump to any conclusions. News link is here. In other news, Krist did a nice little piece about Soundgarden: check it out! And in even stranger news, Duff McKagan praises the Nirvana Live At Reading DVD. Click here to check out Bizarro World! |

NFC News Happy holidays and happy new year!
We here at the base of operations here at Nirvanaclub, would like to wish you and your loved ones a wonderful holiday this season. I know this year I ended up with the new Them Crooked Vultures CD and Nirvana Reading DVD, as well as a couple of Nirvana-related books that are quite interesting. In the spirit of giving and receiving this year, I thought it would be a great idea to gift to you a couple of Youtube video links to songs you may not have heard before from Nirvana:Run Rabbit Run (this is NOT Raunchola as is usually mislabeled) Downer (from the Fecal Matter demo, different slow version) Again, happy holidays everyone and hopefully the new year will bring some great news for us all. (A digital download store of most of Nirvana's material/live stuff would be more than enough!) ;)
